Topic of the week: LOVELORN

 

I.  Warm –up game: Chain Fairytale

This is a fun writing warm-up. Everyone has a piece of paper and writes the first sentence or two to start a fairytale (not one that already exists). Example: Once upon a time there was a frog that had no legs. He wanted to get married, but there were no female legless frogs in the land. After one minute the leader will say "SWITCH". At this time the writers have to put down their pens and pass the papers. They cannot finish their sentences. Then, the next writers will continue the story. After about ten minutes you will have as many silly stories to read as you have club members. The leader should warn the writers that they will soon have to wrap-up the story during the last two minutes so that each story has a conclusion. Read all of the stories out loud for a good laugh. You can extend this activity by trying to edit each other's writing and spelling errors.

II.  Discussion: (in pairs)

1. Have you ever had a one sided love? How did you convey your love to your lover?

2. Have you ever had a crush on someone?

3. Have your parents ever disapproved of any of your relationships?

4. How do you think about assortative mating?

 

III.  Situations:  (in groups)

a.      You really love a person. Unfortunately, two of you are close friends and your dreamboat has fallen in love with other guy. Your dreamboat asked you to give his/her love letter to that guy. What would you do? Give that guy your dreamboat’s letter or throw it away?

b.     Two of you are just normal friends. However, you loved that person for a long time and you didn’t dare to declare your love to her/him. One day, you decided to tell her/him your sentiment. Unfortunately, that day you also realized that your friend had affection toward other person. What would you do? Continue to tell her/him that you love her/him or just keep silence forever?

c.      Both of you have loved each other for a long time. One day, you had a very big quarrel. You all tend to split up. Right this time, there is a very kind person declares his/her love to you. What would you do? Try to solve the problem and stay with your darling or make a break with him/her right that time and start a new relationship? 

d.    You and your sister/brother (close friend) always talk about your dreamboat and are very crazy about her/him. You’re all really eager to know her/him. By accident, you find out that your sister’s/brother’s (close friend’s) dreamboat is yours. What would you do? Continue loving her/him no matter what’ll happen between you and your sister/brother (close friend) or quit it to let your sister/brother (close friend) has a chance? What would you do if that person loves you, not your sister/brother (close friend)?

e.     You and your lover have recently loved each other, about 2 or 3 months. One day, she/ he announced you that she/he got a scholarship to go abroad to study/work for 4 years. What would you do? Try to persuade her/him stay in your country to study/work with you or let her/him go? You also know that the distant and time might be the reasons for you all to break up. Would you still wait for her/him till she/he comes back or you would just say goodbye to your lover before she/he goes to let you  both free?  What would you do if both of you loved each other not just 2 or 3 months, but 5 or 6 years and your lover has to go about 10 years?
